This is a post from LIJSL that we thought was important to pass along to our community.

It is the beginning of a new Seasonal year for youth soccer on Long Island.  One of the most important items of concern for the safety of our players has to be Goal safety.  Each year at least one child is killed due to a falling soccer goal.

Because of field realignment or simple field maintenance, goals are moved from time to time and must be secured again before play resumes on the field.  The only sure way to be sure the goals are secure on any field is to constantly check them before our teams take the field for competition or practice.  With that in mind, I’m requesting that prior to allowing our teams to take the field of play, that someone on each team be designated to physically check the security of all goals.

In addition to the team check, the referee crew has a responsibility to check goal security as well as other items concerning field safety before play begins for any match.

With this dual check in place, it is important that any goal found unsecured be reported to the club.  Only if we all do our part can we insure a safe environment for our players.

On Saturday and Sunday you must enter JLC on the Flower Ave. side of the school.  There is playground construction going on and we have to stay away from the South Tyson side entrance.

Coaches Meeting

Where: Pool Building
When: September 9th, 2010 at 8:00pm

Please make sure you attend!

If you have not heard from your coach yet, please check the schedule page for the time slot for when your child’s team will be playing.  If you do not hear from your coach by Friday, please make sure you show up with your child at the time shown in the schedule so we can straighten out any issues.

Couple of important things to remember:

• Your child must wear cleats and shinguards. 
• You should be sure to bring some water for breaks during the game. 
• If your child wears any jewelry they should remove it before coming down to their soccer session. 
• If your child has long hair it should be tied back.

Due to the weather we will need to cancel the intramural soccer program for this weekend.

1. NO Soccer this weekend (Saturday and Sunday are postponed)

2. We will extend the season and still play 5 weeks.

3. We will post the schedule when we determine date and times

4. Follow the March 20-21 schedule for next week.

If your child would like to play spring soccer and was not registered in the fall there is still time.

The location is at JLC.  Schedules can be found using the links on the right side of the page.

The children need shin guards and cleats and bring water.

The fee is $40.00 (even though the registration form says $100.00) for the 4 weeks.

If you have registered and paid for the fall season then there is no need to re-register.

Please bring the attached form to the field with a check made out to floral park Indians on the start date from above, and we will provide you with a shirt for your child.
